Ben Affleck is Not My Super Friend

I just read this article from CBR about how Warner Bros wants Ben Affleck at the helm of a Justice League movie to rival The Avengers.  You know, Justice League – Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman … the list of potentials really goes on and on.  And you know, Ben Affleck, who apparently has said that he only wants projects he can direct and star in. There were at least a few wrongs that struck me immediately:

First, despite my love for all-things Superman and with the exception of the recent Nolan-Bale Batman franchise, DC movies don’t do all that great at the box office. So I don’t know that anyone at the helm of or starring in a JL movie could make it a real competitor of The Avengers 2.

Second, I’ve never thought Ben Affleck was all that great at acting. I’ve been impressed with some of his recent directing stints, like The Town and am actually looking forward to Argo. But I don’t want to see him as any of the super friends. No cape, no tights, no superhero at all … if I could forget Daredevil, I would. I don’t even want him as a sidekick.

And third, I cuss way too much. Way more than I should as a mom and a Christian. And I almost let that cat out of the bag right here on this site, where I try to reign it in, only letting a few not-so-bad-ones slip through on occasion, because my knee-jerk mental reaction to this article involved the f-word.

What about you? What do you think about Affleck’s potential involvement or the movie concept in general? Of course, if you choose to comment, keep it clean. If I gotta hold back, so should you.
