Weekend Wordsmith

For a long time now, I’ve wanted to start some sort of weekly feature on the blog. You know, like Wordless Wednesday or Movie Review Monday.  I’ve also seen a few blogs that do Feature Friday, featuring another blog each week. I even considered it when I had my first blog and when I set up the farm blog. I just never got around to doing it. Problem was: I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do and didn’t want to take on too many features at once and fail miserably.

In thinking more about what type of feature to add, or start with as the case may be (we’ll see if I add any others eventually), I finally realized what I want to feature more than anything: words. I love words – new words, old words, silly words, serious words — all words. They are why I read constantly, devouring how others string them together. And yearning to be a composer myself.  They’re why I listen to all kinds of music, the poetry of today.  If the words speak to me, I’ll like the music that accompanies them (though I do like a good guitar solo, too).

So I’m starting a feature called Weekend Wordsmith.  Each weekend, I will post a quote — maybe from a book, poem, song, movie, play, article, friend — words that move me, stir me, inspire me — words that, for better or for worse, make me feel … something.

Hope they do the same for you.
