Lonoke County Fair 2010

Dairy Goat Show, September 22nd

The Girl competed for showmanship in the Junior Show, but neither of the boys were old enough this year. The Girl got lots of show experience this year, showing Milky, Mariah, Ladyhawk, Rogue and Kitty Pryde.

Boy Genius competed for PeeWee showmanship and showed in the Open Show.  Boy Genius showed Prada and Montana in the Open Show and Kitty Pryde in PeeWee.

Wonder Boy got his first experience in the show ring in the PeeWee Class with Raven (with a little help 🙂 of course). All participants in the PeeWee Class received a blue ribbon.

Junior Show

Milky won 1st Place in her class, Senior Doe Class 10 3-4yrs; and 3rd Place in the special class, Best Udder.

Mariah won 2nd Place in her class, Junior Doe Class 4 12-24mos; and Reserve Champion.

Rogue won 1st Place in her class, Junior Doe Class 2 5-9mos.

Ladyhawk won 2nd Place in her class, Junior Doe Class 2 5-9mos.

Rogue, Ladyhawk and Kitty Pryde won 1st Place in the special class, Get of Sire.

Open Show

Prada won 1st Place in her class, Senior Doe Class 8 under 2yrs; and 1st Place in the special class, Best Udder. Prada also won Grand Champion and Best of Show!

Montana won 2nd Place in her class, Junior Doe Class 4 12-24mos.

Poultry Show

Since we received two sets of 4H Poultry Chain chicks this Spring, we were required to take two sets of three back to the fair for judging and auction (that’s how they fund the program each year).  We also decided to take one of our Roosters and three additional hens for show.  Poultry are judged individually against a standard then against each other to determine best of show.  While ours didn’t win best of show, we did receive blue 1st Place ribbons for all our birds at the fair.

****

The Girl also won 3rd Place in the Junior Herdsman competition and received a trophy.  The boys received medals for the PeeWee competition and plaques for the Crosscut Saw competition.

We are all (human and animal) back home now and happy to have been a part of the fair this year.  It was a great and fun but exhausting experience.  We need to get rested up because state fair‘s only a few weeks away!
