Nothing Lasts Forever (circa January 1991)

Last updated on October 1, 2017

I remember the first time we spoke.
You stood behind me and whispered in my ear.
Waiting to see if anyone was looking,
You ran your fingers through my hair.

We became friends.
There was nothing more.
Still, I longed to discover
Just what forever is for.

But then your best friend came along.
Everything changed so fast.
I didn’t really know what had happened.
I should’ve known it wouldn’t last.

You’ll be leaving soon,
Out of sight and out of mind.
So I’ll put the past behind me,
And happiness, once again, I’ll find.
