It’s been about 45 days since my last post. I’m not saying that because it’s a record I’m proud of or anything … just pointing out the fact that I’ve been a blogging slacker as of late. And actually acknowledging the length of time makes it even funnier to me that I’m blogging now. You see, a lot has happened in the last 45 days … a lot of singular events that would probably make any normal person – well any normal person who blogs – start burning up the keyboard. But despite the whirlwind of events (yes, I’ll explain more in a bit, got to keep the tease up for awhile), nothing has compelled me to write an update … that is, until today.
Okay so here’s a run-down of my wonderful life over the last month and a half:
We closed on a house … finally!
We moved from the rented condo to the house (and tried to have a yard sale but for Bryan’s mistakenly advertising it at his hospital address rather than the condo … yep, you read that right).
We had our stuff delivered from storage … repeat finally! (Seriously, it’d been about 10 months; it was sort of like Christmas).
The kids (all three of them) started new schools … and the 2 oldest are riding the bus – eek gads!
The classes (count them, that’s 3) I’m teaching started for the semester.
I started full-time at work.
And pretty much all of this happened in the same week … while Bryan was out of town at a leadership conference for work … well, isn’t that just a peachy little coincidence?
Let’s see, we’ve also started building some fences (we’ve got about 12 acres) because we’d like to get some cows and give Ole McDonald a run for his money, and we’re currently caring for, on a trial run basis, a basenji-mix girl whose owner had to go into a nursing home … jury’s still out on whether Brix and Belle accept her (and, I suppose, Bryan too … but on the upside, I’m pretty sure she likes me). I also had to take Boy Genius to the ER on Saturday – he was running a high fever and not acting like himself at all … you know, he was calm. I’m used to Bryan sort of reigning in my panic, but this time around, I guess with all the flu scares, he’s the one who said we needed to take him in. Thankfully, the fever broke and it wasn’t the flu, but my little man was pretty nervous for awhile there, particularly when the security guard who cleared us in said we had to wear face masks!
But all of those things, as much as they’ve impacted our lives as of late, pale in comparison to what happened this morning. Drum roll please … Wonder Boy pooped in the potty. I know, I know, what a glorious, glorious day it is! Wonder Boy, who is going on 27 months (that’s 2 years 3 months for those of you that think it’s silly to continue the month thing … I promise to stop at 36 I swear), pooped in the potty at home this morning, the big potty, and then told me he was done. Does this mean we’re about to find an extra $50+ a month in our budget – ha! I’m sure it’ll be gone before it’s found. Nonetheless, as much as it pains me to think of my last baby growing up, I’ll get over it … I mean c’mon it’s poop for crying out loud … who’s up for a round of “I’m a big kid now!”
