Lazy Days

Today (well, actually “yesterday” officially now) was a “lazy day.” Such are few and far between in a world full of kids and dogs, etc., but oh so precious! I slept until 9:30!!! It’s really quite unbelievable to me. I woke up several times to look at the clock, shift pillows or blankets around, let the dogs out of the bedroom, and so forth…but always laid back down and easily drifted back to sleep. Then, at about 9:30, Bryan walks into the room, flips on the light (not that it mattered due to the natural light beaming through the windows) and said, “What’re you doing?” Once I had stumbled to and from the bathroom and thrown on some jeans to keep from freezing, I headed downstairs where I was greeted by a couple of rapscallions (i.e., Boy Genius and Wonder Boy) still in their jammies while Bryan and The Girl (also still clad for sleep) were snuggled under a quilt on the couch. So, I did what any reasonable person would do….I climbed under the quilt with them! At one point, all 5 of us were sitting on the couch, covered waist down with the quilt, watching Ratatouille. We lounged around for awhile; then I started a some laundry, and Bryan went to pick us up something for lunch.
After we’d eaten (and decided that we should do more than laugh at Wonder Boy who fell asleep in his highchair), Wonder Boy went down for a nap and the kids went into the play room for some quiet play. I folded some clothes, told Bryan I was going to carry them upstairs and then play on the computer until I fell asleep. He said “You’re kidding, right?” Nope. Despite having slept later than I have since I was in college and needed to recover from a night of … good, wholesome fun (yeah, that’s it), I took a nap! I slept, in my bed under the covers in the middle of the day, for about 2 hours, which is probably why I’m still awake and blogging now. 😉 Nevertheless, it was wonderful.
After naptime, we went to the mall to buy the kids some clothes (big “change of season” sale going on). It was snowing when we came out of the mall! The kids thought it was soooo cool (and it was, cold actually, haha). Then it was home and bed for the kids, and a little laundry and straightening up for us. All in all, it was a VERY lazy and uneventful day. I think we all needed it after the stress of my getting ready for last week’s exams; when mommy’s stressed it strains the whole house, I think. Now tomorrow (or today, rather) will be different: church, grocery store (ugh!), more laundry, grading papers, cleaning bathrooms (ugh ugh!), yada, yada, yada. But at least I’ll be well rested!
