“Classic” is one step before “Golden Oldies,” right?

Last night I met some old high school friends for dinner. I hadn’t seen a couple of them in a decade probably. I knew it had been quite awhile but to tally up the years is quite daunting. While driving to the restaurant, I was surfing radio stations and stopped on one that fit my mood: nostalgic. There was a song on that reminded me of our senior day in high school and I started to sing along. (It was “So Alive” by Love and Rockets). When the song ended, the announcer proclaimed the station’s call letters and said “Arkansas’ home for classic rock!” I thought, “Yea! Classic rock … wait, classic rock? Since when?” Classic rock … decades in between reunions … hmmm … I’m sensing a pattern here and I’m not sure I like it …
